A new Colliers International report entitled Cannabis & ALR – Keep the Land states recreational cannabis sales are expected to fetch up to $8.7 million in their first year and will continue to drive up demand for suitable production facilities on industrial land sites in BC. The report also explores ALR parcels as a welcome alternative to marijuana production.

Cannabis legalization is expected this summer. While the ALR only allows for medical cannabis production, agricultural land owners and high-profile marijuana producers are already entering into deals for production of recreational cannabis, ahead of a potential amendment to permitted uses under Cannabis Bill C-45.
