After years of speculation about its future, the old Canada Post property on West Georgia Street is about to be redeveloped.
A rezoning proposal is expected to be submitted to the city later this year to keep most of the existing building, which fills an entire city block across from the central branch of the Vancouver Public Library.
The developer wants to convert the former mail processing plant to a mixed-use building with retail, residential and offices on roughly six levels. To pay for what’s being called the largest heritage revitalization project in the city’s history, the developer wants to add four towers to the top of the building:
