An East Vancouver e-commerce furniture seller is relocating its headquarters a short distance from Railtown to Strathcona amid a six-fold staff expansion that could eventually put it in the same conversation as other local hotshots like Aritzia and lululemon.

“Article” launched in 2014 and has been operating out of a space at 520 Alexander St. The company curates furniture that it stores, markets and sells via an online-only store, forgoing showrooms and salespeople. Article’s brass recently signed a 10-year lease to relocate to 1010 Raymur Ave., the former 115,000-square-foot home to General Paint, next to Strathcona Park.

The space, currently being renovated, will provide Article room for its offices, regional distribution facilities, manufacturing and marketing operations, said Aamir Baig, one of Article’s co-founders.
